This exhibition showcases the women pioneers of international Rugby League: the fearless Lionesses, the last British team to bring the Ashes home from Australia in 1996 the beginning of an international calendar which rivalled their male counterparts both home and abroad. We follow the journey of these ground-breaking women, both on and off the field, bringing their stories and experiences to life from fundraising their own tour to playing on an equal stage with their male counterparts in this year’s World Cup. Hearing from the women themselves in this ground-breaking exhibition, we shed a light on this hidden history, and look at how far these inspirational women have come.
