Wigan Casino 50th Anniversary Programme

“Wigan was and remains indelibly connected to the Northern Soul scene with the Casino symbolising the northern-ness' of the subculture”.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of Wigan Casino, a programme of events & activities will explore what this iconic club meant to people then and the continued impact on the culture of today.

Set across four different sites: the Museum of Wigan Life, Standishgate, the Grand Arcade shopping centre and Trencherfield Mill, the programme, running from the 21st September to the 21st October, will celebrate different perspectives spanning the last 50 years, focusing on the people and music that sustain Northern Soul as a part of Wigan's DNA and ensure the Soul stays strong.
