Royal Court Theatre
The Royal Court Theatre opened its doors in
1886 to a performance of the comical Opera,
The Beggar Student. Originally seating an
audience of 3000 people, the Royal Court
showcased Opera, Music and Theatre until
1930 when it was redesigned into a home
for the silver screen.
In 2019 The Royal Court
Theatre will undergo a transformation, and be
restored to its former glory for the people of
Wigan and beyond. This incredibly exciting
new development, driven by Dave Jenkins of
The Old Courts will once again provide the
people of our Borough a space to engage
and be inspired by magical evenings of live
performance.
