ALRA and Leigh Film
ALRA North is an established and important
centre of learning in the Greater Manchester
film and theatre community. Based in Wigan's
historic Trencherfield Mill the innovative
ALRA MA Directing course integrates the
performance environment with audio and film
directing. In collaboration with Wigan libraries,
ALRA North is planning to house historic
screenplay archives as a national resource to
light The Fire Within future film makers.
Wigan
borough hosts the annual Leigh Short Film
Festival, an international event staged by the
Leigh Film Society, who in 2018 were awarded
The Queens Award for Voluntary Service for
providing socially-inclusive cinema screenings
for everyone in the community and broadening
access to culture.
